STAT Ambulance Service was founded in 1980 and has been owned and operated by Carol Mansfield since 1987. STAT is a Massachusetts corporation and minority owned business, (the only female owned ambulance service in Massachusetts and Rhode Island) is a pioneer in the delivery of Advanced Life Support- Paramedic level service. ​

Serving as the 911 provider for the Town of Dartmouth since 1980 STAT has transported over 100,000 patients.​

In March of 2008 STAT Ambulance expanded its operation with the creation of SouthCoast Emergency Medical Services. SouthCoast provides Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support services to area Hospitals. Colleges, Nursing Homes, Assisted Living facilities, and private patients. In 2010, SouthCoast EMS became a Rhode Island corporation opening up it's first Rhode Island location in Newport.​

Locally owned, managed and operated, Stat/SouthCoast employs some of the areas most highly trained Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics.​

February 2012, Carol Mansfield purchased Coastline Ambulance. With this acquisition, the STAT family of companies now encompasses 4 locations in Rhode Island. SouthCoast EMS operates in Newport and Coastline EMS operates in East Providence, Warwick and most recently Smithfield.​

For over 30 years, Stat Ambulance has been the contracted 911 provider of Emergency Medical Care for the Town of Dartmouth Mass.​

During this time, Stat has treated and transported over 100,000 residents and visitors to local hospitals. We at Stat, have always prided ourselves in being at the forefront of EMS, such as one of the first providers to become a full-time Paramedic service in the Southcoast. In 2008, with CEO Carol Mansfield at the helm, STAT established Southcoast Emergency Medical Services to provide Basic and Advanced Life Support services to area hospitals, colleges, nursing homes, and private patients. Stat has always been at the cutting edge of technology as we were the first to become fully computerized in patient care reporting (ePCR) and purchasing the first "auto-pulse" a machine that automatically provides perfect chest compressions for a patient in Cardiac Arrest. ​
